Joined by former members of controversial organizations, Vargas uncovers how these sects prey upon desperate people to alter their belief systems. Each episode examines a group such as NXIVM, an organization that sells `self-help' seminars, through the eyes of past members and gets perspective from believers and leaders who are still active within it.
